Child Support issues

My ex husband forgets to give me child support almost every month. I have to remind him then he turns nasty. But he does do it after a delay. I have asked him for eight years to set up a standing order and he says he will but never does.
This month it’s a week late so far. I don’t earn much and really rely on the money. I just hate the fight and anger so really don’t want to ask.
On one hand, I’m tempted to leave it this month just to see how long it will take him. On the other hand, he may take this as proof I don’t need his money he. He very much sees the support as helping me out.
Over lockdown, he has reduced the monthly amount by £100 without discussing it with me. He has always been a very high earner but I have no idea of his current financial situation.

Just looking for any advice or tips, please!
I can manage without it this month - just - but my DC break up for October week on Friday so it will mean a quiet holiday. But restrictions for my area could be announced today so that may not be too bad.

Would it be worth going through the CSA? Hope you get this sorted.

Go through CMs it is about control. He doesn't forget. He just wants you to know he can control this. Take it away. It will get angry and make a fuss. Your reply is. You have had long enough to set up a standing order. I shouldn't have to ask every month for you to support our children.

CMS will contact him and suggest he can pay you directly. Or they will take it directly from his employer with an additional 20% for their trouble. Up to him what he decides to do.

Your ex husband?

You don’t have a financial settlement agreement?

AngelicaSchuylerAndHerSisters · 07/10/2020 13:37

@Oneandzero we do have a financial agreement
@unicornsarereal72 he is self-employed so I’m not sure how that affects things.

He has also not been honest about his income. He claims to earn £40,000 a year but owns a flat in Paddington and a large house worth half a million, drives a Porsche, pays school fees etc. I suspect he isn’t honest regarding tax either.

@AngelicaSchuylerAndHerSisters are their any records of his accounts. Either through HMRC. Or such like?

AngelicaSchuylerAndHerSisters · 07/10/2020 13:46

I don’t know. He has never shared or been honest about finances even when we were together so I have no idea what he earns. But adding things up, his lifestyle isn’t possible on what he claims. I have just used the CSA calculator using a low estimate of his earnings and I am underpaid by him massively

I think it would be worth you getting some legal advice on this. It sounds a really hard situation, and as above it also sounds like he is trying to control things.
