How do I grieve the loss of our marriage when I am the one who asked for divorce?

As the title says, I feel ridiculous mourning the loss of the relationship when both exhtb and I are both happier people apart, DS is coming to terms with it and we are both in new relationships. The divorce comes through in two weeks and all of a sudden I feel sad and a bit morose. Is this a normal response?

The loss of a dream is always sad. You once imagined a happy, lifelong marriage, and it didn't happen. Of course you feel sad, but you will get through it and you will know the divorce was for the best. There is nothing unusual about how you feel, so please be kind to yourself and feel sad if you need to.

Thank you @Aquamarine1029 . What you say makes a lot of sense to me. When I married him, it seemed that everything was wonderful. We share a child, we shared our lives and that all seems so dim and distant now. I was reminded today why we split and it was good for me to feel infuriated briefly! We were a poor match, i've lost about 20 years because he was such an old fart even in his 30's!

Wow 20 years is not a short time. No wonder you feel sad. Its perfectly normal in fact it would feel pretty strange not to be sad.
