I got divorced a year and a half ago and it was a final settlement deal but I think that my ex was hiding funds… What is my position? Is it a nightmare to try and reopen the negotiations? Any websites are for self-help you can point me towards? Thanks guys really need your help

If it was a clean break and had been agreed my understanding is that it is just that. You can't go back later. That's the point of it...

Yeah… I guess the problem is that he is rubbing my nose in it now
I have no agreed maintenance arrangement with him. I suppose I could try to make sure that maintenance is appropriate. At the moment he pays 500 for two boys he stay with me for most of the time.

Sorry, meant to say they spend most of the time with me. They see him every other weekend and one night in the week. It’s very difficult as I don’t want to be completely mercenary but I am struggling with a disability that means I can’t work and I can see him spending money on occasionalTables rather than schoolbuses

If he had undeclared funds at the time of the order, then I think he would be in contempt of court.
I guess it would come down to the amount of money versus the cost of opening a case and whether it is proveable that he had the money or knew about the money at the time the order was made. You really need legal advice on that - many solicitors do a free 30 minute consultation, so that would be a good starting point. That's long enough to work out whether you have a case.

The only way a consent order can be challenged is based on a fraudulent statement of assets. If that has happened, it can be reopened.

Realistically, though, it would have to be significant (and provable) to make the stress and cost worthwhile.

And there is the rub… Thank you anyway.Have to admit I am cross with myself… At the time the whole experience was so unpleasant I just wanted to agree to anything to get out of it and now I’m paying the price.
