Help
How do you survive in the early negotiation stage
I am week 7 in. He decided to end it. He left and got somewhere to live. He took his ring off first. Therefore I began the process of having a lawyer draft a separation agreement including what I told him it would and then financials that he came up with.

I feel now he is stalling. I feel like I will go mad soon if this limbo land situation continues

He has shut down and won’t talk to me about it. He had indicated he has seen a lawyer but I don’t know if this is true

All I want is clarity and a plan. How do/have others survived this stage?

Just push ahead and don't waste too much time so that you are in the driving seat and not waiting for your ex to make a move. Get legal advice so you are clear on your rights and get your solicitor to deal with your ex to propose a deal.

I was in a similar situation but decided to take charge of the situation. I was so glad I did as it turned out pretty quickly that my ex had an OW waiting in the wings so it made sure I was in control.

He's probably found out that if he moves money or assets and can delay doing the financial declaration form for 12 months he's home and dry. Nothing but the last 12 months books or back statements need to be included.

Be warned. Get some good advice, crack on with getting the financial forms filled out and the second he delays, take it to the family court.

You need his financial declaration within the 12 months from him planning to leave. This is not the 12 months since he left, as he could have been moving assets before this.

my experience was that XH was at his most generous just after he left. Pathetically, I spun things out in the hope he would come back and by the time I had the agreement it had gone from "I'll pay the bills, mortgage, child support, childcare" to "What's the least I can get away with?"

Keep it objective, and if you have children, remember it's their lifestyle you're negotiating.
