Hi all,

Some advice needed. Finally my ex and I have agreed a financial settlement amongst ourselves but now do I get a solicitor to draw up an agreement or do I apply to courts along with the absolute. Rather not use solicitors of can avoid as I've paid too much for legal costs already.

Thanks

I would definitely use a solicitor, you are almost there, just throw a few hundred £ at it and it will be done.
Wikidivorce isn't up to the job of writing legal agreements.

Yes, I'm afraid you are going to need a solicitor to prepare the Consent Order. That can only be done by a qualified professional. Shouldn't be too expensive if everything is agreed - they will justvwant you to sign a disclaimer to say you accept that they're not adviskng you on whether the settlement is fair - they're just drawing up the legal document. If you don't have this order, the settlement is never final and either of you could reopen it in the future, so it is money well spent.
