Really struggling

NC for this - and my only "experience" is from reading John Grisham novels hence the name...

Preparing for financial proceedings and a FH upcoming. Please can anyone help me understand what goes on in court? Literally - I'm terrified. I have no idea what to expect - timetable, who says what when, are witnesses required to be in on full proceedings, what's the best way to answer (apart from the truth, obviously), will I need to swear on the bible?! Sorry it sounds mad but I've no experience of what's to come and I'm bricking it. What sort of room will we be in?

Have been to FDR which to be frank went totally over my head, but upon hearing "cross examination" particularly when divorcing a creature (narc, sociopath, emotional & financial abuse and with a misogynistic bullish sol & bar) I no longer have any respect for, I'm nervous - I can't find anything online to watch and help me prepare, I've read some bits and pieces but mainly it's family court stuff, this isn't about DC (yet...) it's all about ££. Am a shy, nervous individual and now it seems I need to go on stage and "perform" in front of a bunch of strangers.

I would sincerely appreciate any advice, help, guidance, knowledge - it's scheduled for several days. I have one potential "court" outfit. Can I wear it for all the days? I would rather eat my own feet than do this.

Yes you will have to swear on the bible. The solicitors will do nearly all the talking, you may be asked to clarify a couple of points but generally they will do all the negotiation. I was against my ex who was an emotional abuser and narc and they often lose all their confidence when faced with authority. Good Luck.

Thank you @Seapoint2002 - can't believe in this day and age a bible is used. It all sounds overwhelming.

You can choose to swear on the bible or make an affirmation.
