Ex is trying to "register" himself at my address

My exH (divorced for a couple years, limited contact with the children, no maintenance) suddenly started using my address (old marital home, I bought him out) for correspondence (at least seems to be ordering some catalogues in), managed to get himself on the council tax bill and electoral roll (I was shocked that my permission was not needed for this) and registered a couple of Ltd companies at the address (again, apparently no proof was required!)
I managed to remove him from the council tax bill, but the rest seems like a project in itself.

I am absolutely lost for ideas about what he might need it for. I emailed him a couple of times but he never bothered to reply. Quite stressed too. Any ideas what might be going on?

He's effectively committing fraud.

Get in touch with Companies House about the Ltd companies. When any mail arrives write not known at this address and put it back in the paintbox. Return to sender. I'm surprised about the council tax as the form gets sent to the actual property.

If he's actually registered businesses at your address, you have to contact Companies House.

From the timing I think he still was on the land registry as joint owner at that time - I just completed his share purchase in early August. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Have you contacted him to ask him what he thinks he's doing?

MrsMozartMkII · 07/09/2019 08:22

Contact the catalogues and tell them he doesn't live there. Their fraud teams are pretty good.

AnnaNimmity · 07/09/2019 08:28

my ex has done this as well OP. It makes me so cross. I phoned the bank when it became clear he was using my address and reported him for fraud. In another case, another bank has sent him a cheque. I've lost it accidentally.

I also know his medical results because he got those sent to my house and I know which companies he's involved in. I get his tax return . I do return everything to sender but it really fucks me off - he lives with his girlfriend and has for years, and has a dodgy credit record. I get single persons allowance for council tax, and they were going to take this off me as they said I still lived with him.

@NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 OP said she has contacted him in her first post.
