Hi, I'm currently in the process of divorcing my husband who left me 5 years ago to be with another woman. I am in the process of filling in financial order forms for the court to decide who gets what. Just wondering if anyone knows why one of the questions relating to disclose the finances of a new partner is relevant to the proceedings. I do have a new partner who lives with me in the jointly owned property that is owned by myself and my ex - I have been paying all bills and mortgage etc since he left. Many thanks.

It is relevant as it may affect your income and capital needs. Just put down what you know about his finances. If you don't know, say so.

Just to add to the post from MrsBert, people who claim to know absolutely nothing about their new partner's income and capital are generally not believed, and the assumption is made that the reality is that there are no income or capital needs that aren't being met by the new partner.

Very true that’s why it’s important to end the marriage as soon as possible leaving a very long time before ending a marriage makes it harder in a way to proof anything
