Can I afford this?

If Dh leaves I'll get 400 quid monthly. I earn 1300 so overall I'll have 1700. The house, bills and childcare come to 1200 or so a month so I'll be left with around 400. Can I live on this?

Do you have savings? Have you included fuel and food in your.bills ? And what would your 400 have to cover?

QforCucumber · 06/03/2019 21:03

Is the 400 a month his maintenance payment? Would you get help with childcare?

BringMeAGinandTonic · 06/03/2019 21:05

Is this DH telling you you will get 400 or professional advice/the online calculator?

Shouldbedoing · 06/03/2019 21:05

Have a look at entitledto.com to.see.if you will get any benefits

LLCoolKay · 06/03/2019 21:11

The online calculator informed that it would be 400 quid maintenance. The 1200 includes fuel and food.

So you will have £500 left a month but with no food or petrol to get out of that ? That should be possible, have you included child benefit also ?

OhamIreally · 06/03/2019 21:18

Is that £1300 full or part time? How old are the children? Have you included child benefit? Are you already getting childcare vouchers or tax free childcare?
When my ex left I extended the mortgage term to make it more affordable (reducing it again now), changed to SIM only phone, cancelled gym membership, switched energy suppliers all to bring down outgoings.

LLCoolKay · 06/03/2019 21:18

yeah child benefit is included in that. I've got 3 grand savings too. I need to buy him out of the house but I'm working on that

It's part time. I will pick some bank work up too hopefully. Child is just over 1 we get reduced childcare due to job. I'm going to cancel the gym

How much are you budgeting for food? It will be a lot less without your husband there.

OhamIreally · 06/03/2019 21:22

Oh and council tax will be 25% less.

Babbabump · 07/03/2019 06:56

Good luck, you can do this 💪💪

Summerdreamss · 07/03/2019 21:32

I'm in same situation, yet self employed which is confusing things. Looking at budgets etc, don't want to have to sell the house just yet.

CatyaPurella · 08/03/2019 07:40

When I saw a mortgage advisor last week, factoring everything (food, bills, kids clubs, haircuts, tv, Netflix, insurances, small
amount for going out etc) I had around £400 a month left and he said that was ok and where he would expect it to be. Good luck!
