Timescales - Liverpool family court

Just curious really reading the thread about the delays at Bury. Our case is being processed through Liverpool (goodness knows why when we live in the south but wonder if it's because we are doing it online or delays elsewhere).

Nisi was applied for just before Christmas, just curious as to when we might get a date for that?

Any experience?
thanks!

Petition to nisi currently averaging 7 months (assuming no errors).

7 months?! Holy crap, that's depressing

I know! Petition is absolute is now averaging over 1 year!

CatyaPurella · 18/01/2019 13:03

Why is it taking so long? And they keep saying divorce numbers are going down!

It's a shambles!

I recently did online, West Midlands, it was 6 months from petition to absolute.

tisonlymeagain · 18/01/2019 13:40

Absolute came through in December - just to say how recent that was!

Amateurish · 18/01/2019 14:06

Yes, it's getting worse and worse. Latest stats, for 3rd quarter 2018, show a 30% increase in delays.

From what I’ve heard Bury St Edmunds have massively reduced their turnaround times and all Divorce units are putting plans in place to reduce also. Petitions are generally sent to the unit that can deal with them fastest. Because a divorce has to go through a proper legal process, your file has to be seen by a judge, and depending on how busy the judges are, this can take many months. Sometimes as long as it takes to plan a wedding !
