Can I stop someone seeing my son?

Advise please.

Recently split with partner of almost 10 years, we are still living together for our DS and financial reasons. I was fine with this arrangement until I found he'd moved on already with someone I know.

This OW has caused trouble for our relationship for a long time and I thought I was well shot of her. I've told EXP that our DS will not spend time with the OW and he's agreed but I'm worried what in future this will change if their relationship lasts.

Am I able to stop the OW from meeting DS? She is not the kind of person I want having any influence over DS.

Short answer - no.

If your exP choses, he can allow DS to meet her. All you can do is appeal to him and request it not happen until he's sure the relationship is a long term one.

In a word, no.

No. Your ex is allowed to choose as you’re allowed to choose who your DS spends time with while he’s with you.

FWIW your ex is being sensible saying that they won’t meet at the moment, so it sounds like you have much less of a problem than you could do.

No. Would you think it was okay for your ex to control who you introduce your DS to?

No you can't. When you and DP split, DP can spend time with whoever he likes when he has access. Just as you can too. I appreciate that this is hard to hear but there is nothing you can do about it unless you have serious concerns for your child's safety.

Not in the long term no. Not unless you can prove she is an active risk to his welfare. Commons sense and basic humanity suggests you don't rush into introducing children to a new partner but once relationship is established - say after 6 months? - it's pretty usual.

Thanks, I was pretty sure this was the case but as EXP doesn't seem to be acting with common sense at the moment I guess I was clutching at straws.

Generally I have no desire to control who meets DS but this women will continue to cause trouble, it's what she does. I will just have to prove it - for his welfare as well as my sanity.
