Not after definitive answers, will be getting legal advice, but if you attend mediation and one of you earns so little they don’t even pay tax and the other is taking home pay that is at the top of the basic rate of £46,000 then what is a likely outcome?

Basically has anyone had this experience?

both own property and have DC for whom maintenance is paid by the higher earner but no spousal support. No other joint assets.

There is no "outcome" at mediation. At mediation you and your ex will either agree on the financial split and children or you won't and it will go through the legal process.

The mediator doesn't decide on an outcome, just helps you to come to an agreement.

Ok thank you. My impression was that because I have been asked to take evidence of my outgoings, pension, benefits and salary to the mediation they would somehow able suggestions on a way forward.

Also I am confused as The mediator has said to come alone for a first session and then notify ex partner of you wish to proceed so what happens at the first solo session of it is not an advice service?

I went to mediation alone for the first session , arranged by them. The mediator decided that my now XH and I were not suitable for mediation!
