Anyone else gone to trial as LIP after having representation throughout?

STBX has sacked his legal team, I suspect they over promised based on his allegations, but in reality they had very little chance in getting his demands. He’s now a litigant in person (with his solicitors unofficially in the background, I suspect) which has given him leniency from the judge at the last hearing, even though he’s refusing to disclose, playing silly games, and being a cuntbadger of the highest order.

So my barrister suggests, that I also go to trial as a LIP to even out the playing field as it were. Has anyone self represented at trial? And was it as hideous as it sounds? I assume you both have to question each other? I’ve got huge anxiety. And at the last two day trial, I just about managed to hold it together. The thought of having to it again on my own is already filling me with dread.

Can you arrange an appointment with your local personal support unit? They won’t give advice but a volunteer might sit with you in court and they or your barrister may be able to help talk through what you might expect. I’m considering it. But only if my legal aid doesn’t come through in time. I’d be interested if others have experience.
