Getting used to life without DD....

Thing i feel most sad about with leaving our family home is that i will be working so much and my DD will be cared for largely by her dad and grandparents. Ive worked mostly from home til now and always been there for her, now i'll just be bringing home the bacon and breezing in like a part timer. I'll get to be 'the cool parent' who doesnt do the grind, which sounds ok but actually leaves a hole for me, it was never part of the plan, i enjoy her company :(

Anyone else dealing with becoming a part time parent against their will? :/

Why will you be ‘part time’ as you phrase it?

Yup same boat here. I’ve moved out and am floating from sofa to sofa until she gets a new place for herself and ds. It’s gonna be an hour or so away🙁

The first week or two I felt like I’d been hit by a freight train. A month or so on I’m adjusting to the idea. I don’t have a lot of choice, it was her decision to end it. Trying not to feel bitter too much, it will get me nowhere, and focus on making the best for my ds. He’s just turned six.

It sucks. Still early days here. But the enforced free time is not a gift I wanted or needed. But know it is fair and what is best for the children. As much as I want to stamp my feet and say it's not fair. I have to suck it up

I know technically id still be a full time parent, but being physically away makes it not feel like it for me :(
