Good morning

My STBXH has happily signed the papers for our two year separation divorce thing. All very civil - we are friendly Grin

He has returned the papers to the county court in Belfast (dunno if this is relevant)

What happens next? How long does it take for these to be processed? I know I've to pay £350-ish and then £80-ish for decree absolute but does anyone know roughly how long this will take?

And what happens at the court? Is it quick?

Sorry for my ignorance and thank you Blush

Thank you for replying @GoldenOrb

The papers were left in last Wednesday - I accompanied him to leaving them off I'm a psycho so I know the court definitely has them

I think the court has to process them and send me out a letter to invite me to file for a court date

I'm terribly impatient Grin

I dont think there will be a hearing unless it is contentious. If the paperwork is ok, it will be listed at the court, I think you need to apply for it to be listed, and then is announced as decree nisi is granted. There is then a 6 week wait in case there are any objections, if the ancillary matters are not already dealt with the DA will not be granted until they are. After 6 weeks and a day you can apply for the DA (decree absolute). Will take around 3 months start to finish depending on how busy the court is and how quickly you get the DA application in. Hope this helps, its been a while since I did one.

Im going to be going through this soon also, from NI but hubby lives in England, so its not going to be straight forward :(

Blushingm · 04/03/2018 15:45

I sent my req for nisi - got a letter within a week giving date for court

Mariaaaaa · 06/03/2018 17:17

@Blushingm what do you mean request for nisi?

STBXH has signed whatever he needed to and definitely returned it. Confirmed by the court via email but I haven't received anything else from them?

Maybe NI is different

I sent my petition and it was served on stbexh
The court sent me a copy of the form he completed
I sent of my req for decree nisi
Court wrote back to say will be heard by judge on xxxx date

Then I can apply for my decree absolute - once financial stuff has been sorted
