I was wondering if anyone can tell me what happens if your decree nisi gets heard and is granted? Do you get a letter or something in the post?

Do you have to wait the allotted time to apply for an absolute or can you just post the form off ASAP?

Hello, you will get a letter in the post from the Court saying that they have heard and granted your Decree Nisi. You then do have to wait 6 weeks and 1 day from the date that is granted before you can apply for the Decree Absolute if you are the Petitioner (the one that applied for the Decree Nisi).

If you are the Respondent, you have to wait 3 months from the Decree Nisi date.

My paperwork went to bury st Edmunds the week before half term and ive been told i might just see the nisi before Christmas

I'm Bury St Edmunds too. I guess I have to wait six weeks before I can apply for the absolute anyway, but it would be nice to know it's all gone through

Mine is to apply end of Dec so likely mid jan as business shuts down 🙄

Mine will be 8th January. So, I'll just get the form all ready to go for then, I think

My absolute is due end December but l won't be applying until the finances are sorted

Why do you have to wait until the finances are sorted?

Because if STBX dies in the meantime as we are still married everything will come to me anyway. Also if he is that eager to get divorced being prevented from getting the degree absolute might encourage him to agree stuff quicker
