I've received this this week and it says the respondent (ex) pays the costs of the petitioner (me) such Costs be assessed if not agreed.

What does that mean? In the covering letter from my solicitor it says that the court have said that ex needs to pay the cost of the divorce. Does this mean he has to pay my solicitors fees or reimburse me as I've already paid over £2k and owe about £500 now.

Thanks

It means either he agrees a figure with your solicitor or your solicitor will draw up a bill for assessment (much more complicated in format than the invoices you will have received) and the court will assess what is a fair amount. And he will have the costs of the assessment procedure added to what he owes.

He can pay the costs to your solicitors, they will hold on to what you owe and refund the rest back to you.

Thanks for the reply.

This is fab news!! I've been chasing him since July 2015 and he's basically ignored all attempts to proceed with the divorce and be reasonable during this time.

Looks like things are finally coming to an end Smile
