House sale and costs

My house needs to be put on the market next month, due to a Consent Order. My sons are both over 18, yet both are on zero hour contracts and rarely work full time, so still can't support themselves.

I emailed my ex to ask him to pay the upfront estate agent costs, and to recoop his costs out of the equity. He's replied that he can't afford it. Yet in court his household income (he lives with someone) was over 70k. My income is less than 16k, i have 2 jobs and work 6 days a week.

Once the house is sold we'll be living in rented accommodation, with help received from the council towards the rent.

I don't have any savings, my salary pays bills and food, so haven't any savings towards the bond or first months rent.

Is there anyway the courts will help me by making my ex help towards us moving into rented accommodation? Or by him paying the upfront costs of estate agents.

I have no idea about the court aspect, but you don't need to pay the estate agent up front. It might cost more to use a traditional high street agency than an online one, but the costs will come out of the equity on completion.

I've had 3 valuations, 2 high street one and an on-line one.

All asked for up-front costs.

I'm in the process of selling jointly owned house due to divorce and my estate agent hasn't asked for any upfront fees.

As plastic cheese says, all Fresca are usually deducted from house equity, before its divided between both parties! Maybe call round some more estate agents?
