Meal prep service for diabetics.

I need some advice and thought this might be the best place to ask. 😂

I’m diabetic and completely understand the changes I’ve had to make but I’m a bit overwhelmed with life in general at the moment as I’ve got some other bits going on and wanted to make life a bit easier for a couple of weeks.

Does anyone know of a meal prep service that’s good for low carb and low calorie meals?

ive used hello fresh pre-diabetes and was looking for something similar. Or even better a service that preps the meals and delivers them like ready meals?

thanks so much x

Wiltshire farm foods have the option to filter for diabetic or low cal meals. Larger/smaller serving sizes and lots of option. I've never tried them, but recall they had mixed reviews when I mentioned it on MN previously. https://www.wiltshirefarmfoods.com/

I've heard good things about COOK, but they are pricey https://www.cookfood.net/menu/main-meals/healthy-ready-meals

You could just buy some ready meals from a supermarket (or get delivered). Maybe not the best, but M&S does some nice ones, plus likely cheaper than a regular meal delivery service.

I presume when looking specifically for low carb you are type 2? I’m type 1 so I don’t know how low carb you need, as I can dose for carbs (and still have a 100g + carb dinner especially if exercising) whereas my understanding is it’s more important for type 2 to monitor carbs as a daily intake - forgive me if this is incorrect. I get low-ish carb pre-made lunches for work, so I’m not having massive swings in the working day, and because I’m too lazy to prep lunches and the alternative is a meal deal. I order from Prep Kitchen. The low calorie low carb meals are 450-500cal and 25-45g carbs. 3 minutes in the microwave. Not the prettiest to look at as they get chucked around by DPD or similar, but they generally taste pretty good. I get the larger portion low carb so more like 6-700 cals but still the same low carb.

Have a look at the low carb bootcamp threads here on Mumsnet. Brilliant recipe s, very knowledgeable and supported posters.

If you mean the type of thing where they deliver a box of ingredients and recipe cards then Green Chef are very good as they do a wide range of Keto and Low Carb meals. I’ve not found anyone else doing Keto meal prep boxes or with a decent range of low carb. Was hoping Mindful Chef would do it but all their diabetic friendly meals are low fat which defeats the object and doesn’t satiate hunger.
We started using GC for three meals a week after partner’s Diabetes DX (he managed to reverse it in 9 months with Keto diet but is now diet controlled as inefficient pancreas so has to stick to low carb, plus has RA so it helps with that and the meds he injects for it).
good luck. Do your research. Recommend an app called Freshwell which I found out about from here. It was created by people doing research in to diabetes reversal (I think this is only possible with type 2 though and I don’t know if it’s guaranteed to work for everyone but lots of information and I believe there are NHS trials going on)
