Hi,

I had hba1c done in March and it was ok. I have been feeling unwell and yesterday fasting my level was 8.7 and today 9.8 after food 10.9

im wondering if I should just monitor or pay for a private hba1c (doctors pretty hopeless).

I have a good diet (mostly) and healthy bmi.

I am fatigued all the time but I guess not surprising when waking in the night. I wake to go to the loo and then I’m wide awake and unable to fall back to sleep for ages. I don’t have any darkened skin just dry even when I moisturise. I go to the loo around every 45 mins during the day but I do also drink a lot.

I wonder if the brain fog I get is hormonal (I’m not menopausal but maybe peri menopause).

I guess I’ll know when the test is back 🤷‍♀️ my levels aren’t anywhere near yours.

Im glad your doing so much better my sister has the same injection for her to help her diabetes and it’s great. Shes near a healthy bmi for the first time she was a teen. Also her levels are much better.

Tried my new test sticks and level is 7.8 so that’s good. Probably shouldn’t have paid for the hba1c test 🤪

Have you got your Boots HbA1c test results back yet? That should tell you how your blood sugars have been over the last three months. Also try testing your blood 2 hours after eating to see if it raised or not.

29mm so hba1c is good. No clue why the At home reader read higher. Maybe it’s the average over the day. Anyway that’s reassuring :)

A glucometer gives you your reading at the moment - not an average.

As a nurse we calibrate and quality control our glucometers daily -perhaps yours isn’t accurate?

I used the control solution to check it was working correctly. It’s a good average so I’ll just see what my thyroid test comes back with :) it’s always hard when you’re not well and don’t know why. I did wonder about doing my iron levels too
