Mounjaro and type 2 - moving up dosage

I was prescribed Mounjaro in December as my blood sugars had increased, and dapagliflozin was utterly intolerable. I've got on really well with it, and I've lost one and a half stones, but it seems to be losing its effectiveness in regards to appetite suppression. As far as I know, it's not licensed by the NHS for above 5mg (the dose I'm on) for type 2 diabetes.
I'm actually considering getting a "top up" privately - buying a 2.5mg pen. My BMI is still 32, so i would qualify on weight grounds. Has anyone done this, or know of anyone who has? I've not suffered any side effects, and had been so happy with the weight loss results so far. I have a blood test and see the nurse next week, so will ask if my dose can be increased, but if the answer is no I'm tempted to go down this route.

this is what the BNF says. That’s usually what is followed by NHS prescribers.

@Conqueeftador Thank you for that, it's really useful!

I'm prescribed by NHS for T2 diabetes, was on 5mg till week 20 and then asked if I could move up because I'd noticed a reduction in the suppression effect and a slow down on weight loss,

They wanted a full blood panel first - hbA1c, liver, kidney, cholesterol, thyroid but as everything came back ok they have moved me up to 7.5mg now for 4 weeks then I'll go to 10mg. NHS won't keep you on the .5mg doses for more than the 4 week period as they haven't been tested as anything other than a transition dose that gets you up to the next round number. I'll stick at 10mg until it stops working or as is more likely I hit healthy BMI and move back down to 5mg for maintenance and ongoing sugar control.

@InfoSecInTheCity Thanks for your post. I think I will do the same when I see the diabetes nurse next week. I'll have had a blood test by then. I had the full liver/kidney/thyroid etc before they first prescribed me Mounjaro in December.

I think of you did that your NHS prescription would stop tbh, the GP has to be notified, or will have to be soon (not sure when the new regs come in) and I don't think the NHS would continue to prescribe if they knew you were buying it privately and taking more than you should

I've also been prescribed MJ to control my blood sugars. I've been taking it since December and am still on 5mg but have a telephone review next week and I will ask to move up as the suppression has really diminished.

I haven't lost much weight but I started when I was only just overweight - my BMI was 27.5 and now it's 25.3 I think. I'm not interested in the weight loss but I need to stop craving carbs especially toast, crisps etc.

When I spoke with my diabetes nurse last month she asked if I wanted to move up to 7.5 and I said no, as 5mg seemed fine then but I'll ask this time.
