Will my GP surgery be able to prescribe weight loss jabs?

I'm type 2 diabetic and overweight, really struggling to lose weight. I have been putting off my annual diabetic review because I am supposed to have lost weight and just can't do it. If I attend, will the nurse be able to prescribe weight loss injections, or would I need to be referred on to somewhere else first? I have tried to get them privately, but they won't prescribe to me as I'm diabetic. My fear is that I can't get them privately but will be trapped in a system with a long waiting list to get them on the NHS, so effectively can't get them via this route either.

It won’t be prescribed for weight loss. It may be prescribed to help control your sugar levels, it depends on clinical need. Attend your review and see what they say. Ours are more inclined to prescribe if they feel it will majorly benefit the patient.
