Prediabetes

My blood sugar was pre diabetic in 2019. Was just above normal BMI but have always had a sugar binge issue.

I reversed it to normal levels by doing Fast 800 and losing weight.

Since November 2023 my sugar intake went up. Mainly an afternoon chocolate cake and about 250g - 300g carbs a day.

I'm also now on an immune suppressant and recently started citalopram. I'm also on low dose methylphenidate for ADHD which I started in November 2023.

3-4 months ago I started to feel really tired. It's now an almost permanently state of tiredness. I feel I could nap often and extremities are a but tingly.

Last week I restarted exercise (had only been walking). Went to the gym and did 3 sessions. Not been since November. Part of this involves reducing calories. I was probably on about 2300 a day. My TDEE is more like 2000. The new programme which I have had on Fri and Sat is 1600 calories. I spent most of Sat horizontal and napped twice. Today, Sun, I've been so tired. Its now 6.30pm and I've had 800 cals. Need to make dinner. Except I just fell asleep and had another 1.5 hr nap.

I've got a blood test call with the GP tomorrow as I need to get to the bottom of it.

Does it sound like I could be pre diabetic again? How do I reverse it again without doing Fasting / IF as that caused a lot of muscle loss. Can it be reversed with just a healthy diet?

How are you now @PolkaStripeShirt and how did the blood test go?

I'm by no means an expert but I don't think you need to fast at all?

PolkaStripeShirt How did your call with the GP go? Whether it's prediabetes or not, it sounds like you're doing something positive in terms of exercise and trying to lose weight, which is going to be a good thing from all health aspects.

I found out I was prediabetic in August. I don't need to lose weight, but am trying to be more active (am a lot more than most though). Not saying I've got it 100% right, but I'm trying to make adjustments - have got it down to one biscuit instead of a cake - which is less carbs and sugar. Am now having weetabix or greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast which is a better choice. Have cut carbs elsewhere in terms of smaller portion, or if I'm out not have double carbs, so swapping something for a salad.
