Noisy Neighbours - stress/anxiety

Hi,
A couple moved in next door last January; we live in a semi 4 bed town house, and they have 3 dogs, and in the evenings are constantly opening and slamming the patio door, which then vibrates through our house, causing our lounge window to vibrate; my husband did go round and talk to his wife but the noise has continued and now for the last 6 months or more, he is doing some form of exercising/weights most evenings, and this noise is coming through from their second bedroom into our lounge when we are having supper and watching the TV. It sounds as if he drops the weights. He also is constantly running up & down the stairs, which we also hear, although being a professional jockey, he only weighs about 10 stone.....also, we have had previous neighbours, 2 families of four, where we have not heard a single noise.......this is seriously affecting my mental health & well being, I am so stressed, that this is now affecting my diabetic control and blood sugars. Please has anyone got any ideas.

Unfortunately unless it's between 11pm and 6am there's no much you can do about the noise.
Have you tried ear plugs?

Hi,
No, I haven't.............the problem is, he can come home at any time when the race has finished, but also from April through to October, he is at home and not racing. If he could just not slam the patio door would be a start; we live in the identical house................and as a new build had problems with the door when we first moved in, but got it fixed.

If you complain and it gets they aren't amicable then you may end up in a dispute which you would have to declare if you sell.

Do you know if they are renting or if they've bought?

You’ve spoken to them and they’ve not changed, so I’d consider moving for your health.

You could always go to the council but you would have to declare this if you sold.

I'd knock again and explain that you used to have the same problem with the patio doors. Then tell them what you did to fix it. Perhaps they need the answers spelling out. Try to keep it light hearted as you really don't want to fall out.
