Freestyle libre free trial and not in england?

Has anyone who doesn't live in an English county managed to get this delivered?

I've jumped through all the hoops, I'm now registered, I have the app and my code but I can't add an address as it insists I select the county. I can't free form fill that in and I'm in Scotland. The only counties available are in England, no Welsh, Irish or Scottish.

So now I'm stuck.

I can try to call them at some point but was wondering if there is a loophole I'm missing 😁

Do you have type 1? I am in Scotland and they are prescribed on the nhs

BigBoysDontCry · 13/02/2024 20:49

No, I'm maybe or maybe not type 2. I had an hba1c that was in the diabetic range but I wasn't given the results and my next test was at the top end of normal. I just thought it would be useful to see if there are particular foods I need to avoid more or foods I can safely add in.

I'm happy if I can control with diet and exercise and I follow a low carb diet but I've only just managed to get into a normal weight range from being underweight so it would useful to know if I can safely up some foods or not. Gp said they would remove the diabetic marker if I'm still in the normal range next time and I guess since it was so close I'm slightly panicking.

A couple of weeks would probably do me. I do have a finger prick bgm but I don't want to be continually testing that way if I can help it.

Just buy one, it's only £50

PotatoFan · 13/02/2024 20:52

You wouldnt qualify for the trial anyway if you haven't been dignosed Type 2 yet.

Wrong. You don't need to have been diagnosed to get the trial

Wrong. The T&Cs say it’s for people with diabetes or parents/carers of children with diabetes. I guess you could lie though.

BigBoysDontCry · 13/02/2024 21:00

I have qualified as per my post. I have the code. I just can't add a delivery address.

BigBoysDontCry · 13/02/2024 21:03

There is no need to lie. At no point have they asked me if I have diabetes.

OP posts:
BigBoysDontCry · 13/02/2024 21:03

And technically I still have the diabetic marker on my nhs record.

PotatoFan · 13/02/2024 21:13

It's in the terms and conditions that you tick to agree to, that the free trial is only available for diabetics

PotatoFan · 13/02/2024 21:15

"The campaign is open to:
(a) people with diabetes aged 18 years or over who reside in the United Kingdom."

BigBoysDontCry · 13/02/2024 21:36

I'm not sure what your problem is? I had a diabetic level reading. I started with bg of 19.1 this time last year. I still have diabetes on my record and I'm desperate to keep my blood sugar down. I've gone from a bmi of 17.6 to 18.5. I don't want to drop any lower. I've been signed off from a diabetic consultant. I get regular hba1c and had a diabetic eye test etc.

You seem overvinvested when the question I asked was whether anyone managed to add in an address that wasn't in England.

I haven't even added in the free code, I couldn't order from them directly whether I was paying or not as I can't add in a delivery address. 🤷

PotatoFan · 13/02/2024 21:59

why the sudden change from "I'm maybe or maybe not type 2" to now being diabetic? Either you're diabetic and eligible but need to call them to sort out delivery, or you're not diabetic and you need to pay.

If all non-diabetics ordered a sensor when they weren't eligible it would likely impact supply of sensors for those of us who rely on them to stay alive, so of course i couldn't encourage people to order sensors unless definitely eligible.

BigBoysDontCry · 13/02/2024 22:17

I said maybe, maybe not as I may be in remission but I don't know yet. No one has ever actually said I am but that's because I was never given the Hba1c reading that showed I was. I'd managed to get my blood sugar down by doing extreme low carb but that wasn't sustainable for me as my weight dropped so low and I was close to developing an eating disorder.

I have no idea why you are getting so pissed off. Its of no consequence to you whether I pay or not.

Being type 2 is not an indication that I am fat and lazy and can't be bothered helping myself. There was debate with the consultant about whether I might be type 1 or 1.5 or 2. At the start of this issue last year I had a bmi of 24.

If you'd rather I did nothing about my blood sugar issues and developed health issues instead just because I don't have type 1 then that's lovely.

Now clearly you have no idea how I can manage to order without having an address in England so thank you for your feedback.

I got my code for the free trial but had lots of issues getting my code to be accepted. In the end I phoned customer services and they put my code through manually. No issues with getting the free trial, the monitor arrived quickly, but I couldn't access it online.

PotatoFan · 13/02/2024 22:22

I didn’t say anything about you being fat and lazy! I’m t2, but my pancreas produces no insulin so that’s why I rely on the sensors.

You’ve already found that you can’t put your address in, no one here can have a secret alternative website that allows your address, so no one can give any possible solution other than call them

Thank you. I suspected I'd have to call.

I can't be the first person to come across this issue. I asked if anyone had found a solution so that I could sort it now, while I'm in the middle of navigating the order process.

I'm sorry to hear about your pancreas issue. I had to have a ct scan to rule out issues with mine, it's a worry. I am really hoping to get a better idea of what I can have to eat or not.

For example, NHS dietician encouraged me to have porridge for breakfast but fingerprick test says that's no good for me (as I would have expected). I don't eat sugar and stick to low carb and I don't particularly enjoy high fat food but I need the energy and calories so it would be good to figure out what I tolerate and what I don't in order to keep myself healthy.
