Moving to insulin, any apps for food

I have been type 2 diabetic for 3 years, tried Metformin, ozempic, and the one where the sugar comes out through the kidneys

I've lost 4.5 stone but cannot get my sugar under control, so looks like I am going to be going to background insulin

I'm struggling with food, does anyone have an app where I can scan stuff before I buy it to see what fat, sugar and carbohydrates are in it?

For reference, I test my blood when I 1st get up, and despite not having anything with sugar after dinner, it's not been lower than 12.1

Not gonna lie this sounds absolutely horrendous

Surely it's less horrendous than a lifetime of insulin injections?

You might find if you give a diet overhaul a chance you start to feel better - you must feel pretty awful with such high sugars

That's what I'm trying to do

We are a family of 4 and die to COL can't afford to cook different things. Kids are teens so need all the food, I need to be able to fit in with them while looking after myself

I haven't suggested anything my dd didn't eat and I haven't suggested anything expensive ?

So kids get bread and butter with a soup

Vegetable curry using tin tomatoes and dried spices to flavour , kids get more rice than you

you want to be teaching your children healthy eating habits so they don't end up like you

Well done on losing weight though

My kids wouldn't consider soup a dinner.

That's a fair point about the cost of living, and like me, you'll not want the faff of cooking individual meals. So.....you mostly eat the same meals, but no cereal or toast for you at breakfast, and for main meals you skip the potatoes and bread they can have and instead you up the low carb veg you have. If they're having, say, steak and kidney pie, you can have the meat part but not the pastry. If it's fish in batter, you get your fish without the batter. And so on. It isn't that hard to do.

The best thing about low carb is not needing to make separate meals. DH didn't even notice I was dieting at first.

Make curry/casserole/stirfry/whatever. Everyone else has rice, noodles, potatoes, or whatever carbs with it.

You just don't have the carbs.

You may need your own bread though as standard sliced bread is awful for the blood sugars.

Im Type 2 and on insulin, but i went straight onto Insulin and metformin when i ended up in hospital with DKA without A, they werent sure if i was type 1 or 2 for ages.
I havent cut out breads etc ,just keep added sugars to under 25g a day, so low sugar cereal with lots of nuts , seeds and berries and a boiled egg
wholemeal breads with grains and seeds
and just lots of fibre when having carbs.
My Ha1bc is 41 and have halved my insulin dose since i was diagnosed 18 months ago.

I'm type 2, have been for 12 years and have recently started a lower carb diet as my hba1c was creeping up and metformin no longer working. My blood sugars are so much better - I don't eat bread other than Vogel seeded and 1 slice; I have cauliflower rice instead of rice or pasta and I don't eat any form of high density carb. It's actually a lot easier than I'd imagined. I had a cheese and mushroom omelette for tea with tenderstem broccoli and don't feel I've missed out on anything at all. DH has the same but with potato wedges.

It's either change your diet or take more meds. I chose diet.

Have I misunderstood OP? Food you buy from most shops will have carbs per 100g printed on there. Are you looking for more of a diary thing?
