Confused about my levels

Hi,
during my pregnancy (20 months postpartum) I had gestational diabetes.
had strict ranges to keep within.
gestational diabetes goes away once placenta is delivered and I had my follow up tests at 3 and 6 months and was discharged. Although I understand it make me more susceptible to type 2 diabetes.
so I periodically check my own blood sugar when I’m feeling a bit crappy.
yesterday I checked my levels before I had my breakfast after not eating for 8/9 hours and got a 5.4 (pre diabetic is 5.6 right?)
so I tested again today after not eating for 12hours and I got a 2.8 I thought this was good but when I Googled the result it says it’s dangerously low.
I felt physically fine- no confusion or weakness or dizziness.

is 2.8 low?
im currently doing intermittent fasting to try and drop some weight

Yes, 2.8 is very low. Did you try again in case the result was incorrect?

yes I took 2 tests.
I then ate two slices of toast - 2 fried eggs and some cheese.
I never felt unwell- I felt hungry but after fasting I expected to.
I’ll test again tomorrow morning.

im not actually sure when to check - during gestational diabetes I had lows of 1.8 and they were not concerned.
my highest reading was 8.4 1hr after food.
my fasted reading to be diagnosed with gestational was .2 over the limit.

Sometimes if you are pre-diabetic it can ironically cause very low blood sugars, as your body dumps insulin to try to counteract the increasing insulin resistance and it overcompensates, causing thise crashes - normally the crashes are shortly after eating though (post prandial hypoglycaemia). Not saying that's what you have at all as it could just be due to your fasting, but it can happen. It is likely worth talking to your GP and asking for a proper test to see what's what, if only for some peace of mind.

It sounds like you've been through a lot with gestational diabetes. It's great that you're keeping an eye on your blood sugar levels, especially since you're more susceptible to type 2 diabetes now. A level of 2.8 is definitely on the low side, especially after not eating for 12 hours. It's good that you're feeling fine, but it might be a good idea to chat with your healthcare provider just to be safe. They can give you the best advice based on your specific situation.I also came across some info on sugar balance that might be helpful. It's all about finding what works best for your body and keeping an eye on those levels.
