Good type 1 diabetes antenatal care

Which hospitals have good antenatal care for their type 1 diabetes ladies?
I’ve just learnt that in my hospital based in Buckinghamshire monitoring starts at 32 weeks apart from speaking to diab doctor on the phone ie no face to face at all.

I want to move hospitals basically but how do I know where to go?

Seems at odds with NICE guidelines - have you just moved onto the area, ie they are unaware of your T1D?

i had very regular monitoring (fortnightly hospital visits from week 6 of pregnancy) with all three pregnancies when living in Bucks, and was cared for brilliantly by team at Wexham hospital.

@Snoodleberry They are very aware as the diab consultant there looks after me. We just speak on the phone every 2 weeks. But then that’s it. And it seems such a long time until 32 weeks.

I’ve also heard some hospitals do a Fetal heart scan but I sked my midwife and she said she doesn’t know which hospitals do what.

Seriously?
I had both of mine at kings, many years ago admittedly, had many many scans, right at the start, all the way through, then fortnightly, then weekly. Plus seeing mw's regularly, but most important I saw consultant fortnightly.

Would be worth raising your concerns. Are you on a pump and CGM? Could be worth discussing with your regular diabetes nurse as well as any other consultants you see.

I had a feral heart scan with my first, but had to go to JR hospital in Oxford, and then that scan was phased out for my second and third pregnancies. I queried it, but apparently research had shown that the better maternal control that is achieved through the use of CGMs in pregnancy meant it was not a concern as before (if I remember right).

I was fortnightly unless they had some concerns when I went weekly. It seemed to vary on how happy and confident I was feeling, as well as how happy the antenatal clinic were with my pregnancy.

the GP based midwife that I saw through all three pregnancies fully admitted that her knowledge of caring for T1D pregnancies was limited, and so she just did my bloods/weight/and more of a mental health check given the extra worries you go through with a T1D pregnancy.
