When to test - after dinner or drinks?

I am being monitored for gestational diabetes at the moment and it's come at the worst time. It's my partner's birthday this week so I've already had 2 high readings in 5 days due to birthday cake. If I get one more and I have to report to the midwife first thing in the morning.

Today I was exhausted and missed lunch then we got Indian takeaway for dinner (I know I know).

I finished dinner an hour ago, but right after dinner I got a 0% Guinness and have been mindlessly sipping that for the last hour. My alarm went off to remind me to test my blood sugar and I am not sure if I should just test now or wait another hour because I've only just finished the Guinness?

I was told to test 1 hour after meals but I didn't think to ask about snacks or drinks at the time or how that feeds into everything.

You should just test, as without GD your body should be able to deal with spikes.
It's all down to placenta and insulin resistance.
Don't falsify the readings. The exhaustion is probably your body trying to deal with regulating blood sugars.

Definitely not going to be falsifying! Got an 8.4, so in I go tomorrow morning 😭

Please look at it as a good thing that has been picked up.
Once it's been diagnosed you can change your diet and have proper treatment to keep baby safe.
It's much better than having it undiagnosed and having a poorly baby.

Once my sugars were under control I felt really well, not as tired xx
