I've always struggled to get my sugars under control. Recently I have some problems with my eyes and have been told I really need to get everything under control. I was given a meter last week and my sugars are much higher than I expected, when I've been testing they are between 15 and 20.
I've looked at my diet and I know I really need to cut down on carbs. But not sure what are the best things to eat. I usually have cereal for breakfast and I need a quick and easy lunch I don't get a lunch break at work I eat standing up working and I usually have a sandwich I'm vegetarian too, please can anyone offer some advice and support.

By meter, is it a blood sugar monitor that is attached and gives thousands of readings a day? That’s a great start and will really help you with your diet.
Start with small changes like breakfast as cereal is as bad as it gets. If you swap to Greek yogurt and nuts/seeds/berries (prepare the night before if pressed for time), you’ll see an improvement I’m sure in the resultant spike. Eggs are also good and delicious with veg like spinach or even just boiled.
When you’ve got that as a habit, look at your lunch. Could you bring a salad for eating on the go, or even just swap out the bread for slower releasing bread like rye bread?
As a vegetarian dinner will be harder as you can’t load up on pasta/rice etc. but you can look into veggie stews and dahls.
Good luck and don’t worry about changing every meal all at once but perhaps one at a time is more achievable.
