T2 and trying to lose weight. What am I doing wrong?

Newly diagnosed. I'm 45, perimenopauseal. My blood levels were 56 beginning of October. Not medicated and I want them down fast.

I'm due to go for another test end of Nov and I've been working really hard on diet and exercise. I did well during October and the weight fell off. I lost a stone in a month. I've put 2lbs back on since. My diet is totally overhauled with macros considered. All white carbs, processed foods etc removed and other carbs limited to wholegrain with less than 25g per meal. My bloods are now ranging 4-7 and I'm doing at least 30 mins walking and cycling a day as well as resistance band training. I'm alternating between the two every other day adding up to over an hours training most days. I have taken days off when I've done a lot of walking.

My shape is changing. I'm fitter, firmer and my clothes are slightly bigger however, the Scales have stopped for 2 weeks now. I need weight off as I'm obese and this is what my GP needs to see.

I'm trying not to get fed up as I must lose the weight. I don't have an option but I cannot get it shifted.

Don’t be disheartened, as long as you aren’t eating extra because the exercise is making you hungry (or are subconsciously thinking you can ‘ just eat this because I’ve worked out today’) then you will shift it. Total calories matter though, not just macros.
Congrats on your weight loss so far, and changing your diet. That is bound to improve HBA1C & the weight loss will continue. Well done!

Well done op, it sounds like you are doing really well. It might be worth looking on the bootcamp threads on here for a few ideas also.

I also think you need to wait a bit longer before repeating your blood test. You need 3 months between HbA1c tests to get a fully “new” result. It’s looking at how many glucose molecules your red cells have been transporting, and as red cells are around for up to 3 months, if you test sooner you risk the result telling you part of the old result too. So essentially it won’t fully reflect all your hard work, as some of the first test set of red cells will still still be there.

Good luck op, and again, well done.

Have a look at the Glucose Goddess on Instagram or read her book 'The Glucose Revolution' which gives you some simple tips for flattening the glucose spikes after eating. When I say simple, I mean 'eat the food on your plate in a certain order' simple

I am T2 and have been struggling for years but I have put her 'hacks' (hate that word) in place for a couple of weeks and it's already falling off, plus my numbers are already much better

There are a few threads on here about the appetite suppressant injections you can buy privately. They seem to work very well. Think it's called ozempic.

You're doing really well. Don't give up.
Drink more water and ride out the plateau.
Even if the scales aren't budging take measurements as I bet you've shrunk. It's so so common for the scales to stop moving for a bit - hang in there
