Is there anything I can do to wake my mother up to her condition?

She was diagnosed type 2 diabetes early this year. She had lost weight and seemed to be really making an effort, even though much of the archaic NHS nutrition advice was questionable she was definitely taking it on board.

spending time with her today, she’s back to being very overweight and just between the hours I was with her she ate a chocolate and marshmallow crepe with all the trimmings, two cans of coke, a coffee with sugar and chocolate eclair! I commented she needs to keep an eye on her sugar intake and she went mildly huffy and ‘oh well when it’s my time to go’ crap.

She has several other health problems too impacted by her weight and diet. She goes to the doctor about them and goes on a cocktail of meds which she loves to tell everyone about when talking about her ailments, but does nothing to address the problem. I’m getting worried it’s too late. I’m scared for her.

You could scare her to death about neuropathy I suppose.
tell her it’s not just a case of ‘when it’s time to go…’
Poorly control sugars can result in tingling and loss of feet sensations, nerve pain, painful leg ulcers that don’t heal and, sometimes, loss of limbs.
