Awaiting my blood results for usual anaemia I was surprised that the GP rang and said I had poss diabetes but a further test would be needed in 10 days.
I had the tests as was feeling bone tired and was sleeping at drop of a hat! Which is unlike me.
I also felt very shaky and not with it ..
anyway I feel it might be beneficial to change my diet right now but I haven't a clue , appreciate your advice

Diabetes U.K. have lots of info, and meal planners, along with recipe finders. If you are diabetic the GP/Nurse should be able to refer you to a local diabetes education course (if your area runs one) so you can receive diet advice.

Watch 'What The Health' on Netflix, it's all about people going into remission with their diabetes by eating whole foods.

Thank you both for replying, certainly been an eye opener !
I've had covid recently and was eating rice cakes, peppermints and drinking fresh orange for nearly two weeks Confused
I definitely need to change that !

I've eliminated rice, pasta, potatoes and root veg from my diet as well as most processed food and sweet stuff. I might have one slice of lowish carb bread each day, green veg, 1 portion of fruit, meat, fish, eggs, cheese & nuts. A couple of squares of really good dark choc or the odd can of Pepsi Max are my treats. I'm eating a proper breakfast each day religiously.

I've been losing a steady 1-2lbs per week and I'm hoping my latest blood test results will show a definite improvement. Take a look at the books by Kate Caldesi for inspiration & the Reverse Your Diabetes cookbook.

When you say what diabetes, what type?
If you have type 1 you can eat whatever you want, providing you carb count and have the correct insulin ratio.
Also if you have type 1 you absolutely can't reverse it, it's an auto immune disease where you're pancreas stops working, it's nothing to do with your diet.

Thank you for your replies.
Just had second blood test so will know in a week or so.
This is a typical days food for me now.
Unfortunately I don't eat eggs or porridge.
I don't have sugar in drinks .

Early morning 2 ginger biscuits & cuppa.
Mid morning banana at desk.
Lunchtime peanut butter wrap or salad pitta plus piece of fruit such as satsumas or plums.
Mid afternoon handful of walnuts and raisins
Evening meal steak or chicken ( air fried) with roasted veg no rice pasta or potatoes.
Snack in evening rice cake or fruit

Does this sound good?

By cutting out most bread and all pasta, rice, sweet stuff and potatoes I've managed to drop my HbA1c levels have dropped from 58 to 44 in 3 months. More importantly, I feel so much better.

That's fantastic, have you lost weight too ?
I've lost 4lb in last week!
