I bought one off Amazon and wondered how accurate they are?

My Dad has diabetes and I've been having some similar symptoms.

Anyone use one?

Ive bought a free one from NHS Glucomen areo 2k . I think all metres are supposed to have a tolerance of 15%. However i had to buy a new one in an emergency as i forgot mine . I bought a glucorx nexus which seems to read a bit higher than my Glucomen.
I am having my first Hb1ac test since diagnosis in August. I use Diabetes M app which is forecasting 5.6 or 37 based on my Glucomen areo results , so it will interesting to see how accurate it is.
I am on insulin and test 4 times a day.

Thank you for the reply.

I don't have diabetes. My Dad does. However I bought one to test my levels before I do long training runs - I'm marathon training.

Tested yesterday and it was 3.1 which I thought was good - lower score the better I thought. But apparently not 🤦‍♀️

Did it again an hour later and it just said "LO". So maybe I just need to keep an eye on what I eat and when

Im diabetic; I'd be treating that as a hypo (risk of coma etc if untreated)

If you're worried, see your GP.

Oh, and my meter goes down to below 2 before it displays 'LO'

Thanks for that chart.

I'm not sure if I'm worried. I do tend to get shaky, cold and irritable when I'm hungry.

And I don't eat a lot of sugar as I try to eat super healthy.

I'm going to test a few more times a day and see if I get a similar result.

It's good to know there's a reason why I feel rubbish sometimes though. And it will be helpful to see the effect of 2 hour plus training runs on my blood sugar levels

I forgot to say I did it on waking this morning and I was 4.8. So higher at least

4.8 is pretty normal. You need to check before eating ie. first thing.

Eek3under3 · 16/07/2022 18:38

Your fasting level is fine. 3.1 would make me feel shaky. How are you fueling long runs?

Chesneyhawkes1 · 16/07/2022 18:40

Normally porridge for breakfast. Then a gel at about 8 miles and another at 15 ish.

The 3.1 was strange as I'd had lunch and a small flapjack. It was 2 hours after I'd eaten that I did the test as that's when Amazon delivered the gadget
