Can a pharmacy check me for type 1 and type 2 diabetes

Hi, I tried to make an appointment for a blood test today but got told to go to the pharmacy, do pharmacists check for type 1 and type 2 diabetes and does it cost? I've been struggling with fatigue, recurring thrush, constant hunger, dry mouth and I had a bad case of cellulitis in my foot after a very small blister a couple of months ago so I thought I would just try and rule it out.

T1 is an autoimmune condition. Diagnosis requires a blood test to test for antibodies that indicate T1.

a pharmacy will be able to test if you have high blood sugars which indicates diabetes but won’t distinguish what type.

As above they can only do a finger prick test at the chemist, if high then they would likely get you to book an appointment with the GP to have your hba1c checked

I see you don't mention more frequent trips to urinate, that is also a symptom of diabetes and in Type 1 there is usually rapid weight loss as well (I'm Type 1 myself)

Anyway I see this was posted a while ago so hope you have gotten to the bottom of what was causing your symptoms xx
