Insulin pump??

I'm a type 1 diabetic and have been for 7 years. I'm now 23 and I've been asking for a pump for some time now but it just feels like I'm being ignored as nothing ever comes of it? I really want to try and get my levels under control and after doing some research I really feel as though a pump would help. I've been to see my GP on numerous occasions about various things and each time he asks if I'm on a pump and when I say no he can't understand why and to be honest neither can I. Is there a certain way I need be approaching this??

What about your specialist diabetes support? DH has this at the hospital

Mind you - he has only just got the sugar test sensor

It was my DSN I was asking so I don't know whether I'm best just asking my consultant the next time I see him and whether that will get things moving. Yes I've had the libre too for about 2 years now

Criteria for approval in my area is hypo risk if you can press that with your diabetes team?
I got mine to sort my (severe) dawn rise as the alternative fix would be more basal which when I tried it caused hypos so a bit around the houses!
I have it now though and it's a gamechanger and wouldn't be without it so keep trying and good luck

Hi OP
Just seen this
You need to do a DAFNE carb counting course (through your DSN) and benefit from a pump if your Hba1c is over 69 I think and have difficulty recognising hypos
I'm on my second pump, and self funded my cgm, but now get it funded as I had 16 hypos over 14 nights
My cgm turns my pump off when I go low and turns it back on when I've recovered
It's great for sport as well - I turn my basal down to 35% for 2.15 hours when I line dance! I come out the same as I went in!
Marvellous technology!
