Hello
A little concerned today :(

My mum was diabetic , diabetes type 1. Anyway it is said that it may skip a generation.

The last two days I noticed a pungent smell in my daughters urine when changing her nappy, she is potty training snd I thought the urine looked very yellow also.

I asked my mother in law if a children's urine is usually strong and offensive in scent and she said no so then when she smellt it snd could not beleive how strong it was either.

So I call my doctor, Saying about the smell, they say a doctor will call me back and he called within 30 seconds, wow! Anyway I was then seen half hour later I had to take a urine sample in And he checked her over,

He said there was no sign of infection but she had ketones in her urine, he then started asking about family history of diabetes, then decided to do a blood sugar level test, The first reading was 11.7, which he said was very high, he said he needed to go snd see a children's doctor for advice, he then came back snd said, had she held any sweets etc in her hands today? I said no just a Jaffa cake and he said that may have affected her levels. So then he cleaned her other hand and checked her levels again and it was 8.7,
He said this level is fine but wants to re check all on Thursday :/

Upon reading online as we do we're all Dr Google when we want to be, 8.7 levels are still high for a 2 year old and indicate pre diabetes

Does anyone have experience with this?

Just to add she is a perfect height snd weight, she ate and drank a little bit less that day.
