First HBA1C result, what does it mean?

Hi,
I’ve posted my result and I was hoping someone can explain to me what it means.
All the doctors at my surgery are off on long term sick or maternity leave. (No lie, it’s full of locums)
Nurse cannot call me until Monday evening.

My result is 40 mol/mol
Does this mean I am at moderate risk of type 2?

Thanks for your help

Yes, it means you’re at moderate risk so you can get that down with a change of diet. Cut down on carbs like bread, pasta, rice and potatoes and your hba1c should reduce too.
Not an expert btw but my ds has T1.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/08/2019 14:16

No it doesn't. More than 42 is moderate risk. 40 is not listed as an issue.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/08/2019 14:17

Ha, ignore me! Just re read!

ajandjjmum · 18/08/2019 14:17

Wish mine was 40!

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/08/2019 14:20

In my experience 42-47 pre diabetic.
Under 42 is normal.

Wetwashing00 · 20/08/2019 10:19

The nurse didn’t mention risk of diabetes.
But I have gout!

i work at a Gp surgery as a HCA.
In our area under 42 is normal
42- 47 is pre diabetes ( at risk)
48 and above diabetic. ( x2 samples minimum of 2 weeks apart)
we wouldnt recall for hba1c of 40.

Nothingoriginalhere · 20/08/2019 10:32

the under 42mmol in the op photo refers to a retest sample where it has previously been higher than 42mmol. Not a first normal sample.

lancaster · 20/08/2019 15:14

Normal

bakebeans · 21/08/2019 19:01

Top end of normal. 42 is the risk

Thank you for this, my results have come back as 45 and my GP has asked to see me. I am very overweight but I am now prepared and even though I only just got the results have already started lifestyle changes to reduce the weight so don't end up with diabetes.
