Morning blood sugar

After eating rather healthily for about a month or so, yesterday I lost control and had a bit of a binge on ice-cream, chocolate, sugary cereal and biscuits only a few hours to bedtime. I drank about 2 bottles of water afterwards and did an hour of exercise and this morning my blood sugar came back as 5.4 mmol. (I am not diabetic, but around a month or so ago my blood sugar was just out of the pre-diabetes stage at 5.3) So this morning is (to my knowledge) the highest I've ever had it.

Do you suppose it's because I ate quite bad just a few hours before bedtime? If I eat healthily today with lots of water and my regular exercise will it be lower tomorrow morning?

(for the record, I am only 18 and not obese. Just looking for a little reassurance)

Yes. Even non-diabetic people have blood sugar spikes. Plus in the morning your liver releases glucose into your blood stream to get you up and going.

Anything under 5.5 is in range. Why are you testing?
