Night sweats and sudden thirst

Hi all.

I have not been to my GP or been diagnosed with diabetes. However, the last few months, I've been sweating at night time, so waking up with bedding and pyjamas damp. We don't have the heating on and it's very cool in my room so it's not a temperature issue.
I've also (past couple of weeks) been at work or doing something when I get suddenly really thirsty. I've had to interrupt conversations to say i desperately need a drink and feel as if I'm going a bit light headed.
I have been to the GP about the tiredness issue. I crash suddenly and need to sleep. All I think about after work is getting home quickly to have an hour's nap before I get the kids and start yawning excessively.
Last time GP did some bloods 1.5 yrs ago maybe (full blood test) and they came back normal but I don't know if they did a diabetes one.
I don't know if a normal blood test would bring up any diabetes results?

I've had an awful bladder since I can remember (tests showed I wasn't emptying properly way back then) and have had 3 kids in the last ten years but I still don't empty properly and will go to the loo and need it again 5 minutes later if I've had a drink.

I had diabetes tests when pregnant but not sure if these are the same ones as I know there are different types and my youngest is 5 now.

Anyhow, because I hate going to the GP and can't get time off work, I've bought myself a test online to do and it should come tomorrow to rule it out really.
I'm just wondering if these are accurate and any ideas on my symptoms . I know it could be anything but diabetes sprang to mind.

Oh, one other thing - palpitations. Never had them before but having them fairly often now. Only for a second or two.

You've got 3 of the "4 T's" of diabetes.

I think it's worth getting a check up at your GP, it could be diabetes, or something else, or even just a virus. But best to check it out.

I have thyroid disease that swings from under to overactive sometimes. I had those symptoms when it went overactive. You really should go to the gp and get your bloods done
