My husband was diagnosed 3 years ago. We have got to the stage where he can barely articulate. He has given up driving. He is a little unsteady on his feet but to date has had no falls. He's still pretty sharp about most things but seems to get overwhelmed and stressed about decision making.
As another poster mentioned on another post he's the same person but much more so and not in a good way. He gets moody and finds constant fault with things I do..all his not -so- great traits are magnified now. It's awful for both of us. I work part time and have some good friends but sadly his world has got so.much smaller.
Anyone else have any experience with this condition? It seems fairly rare.

No experience sorry @neilyoungismyherobut that does sound awful for you Flowers

Just wondering if you’ve reached out to your local Carer’s Hub yet? When DMIL was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia DFIL was extremely reluctant to talk to anyone but when he finally did reach out he found them very supportive and helpful.

I’m so sorry. My mum had this unfortunately and I recognise everything you’ve written.

Please look up rare dementia support
Have you been able to see a speech therapist

Yes, my dad was diagnosed at 63 and went into a care home at 71. He wasn’t too bad but lost speech early along with reading and writing. He has lost quite a bit of spatial awareness. Needed personal care from about 69/70. Now incontinent. It was really tough for my mum who refused pretty much all support. Please engage with day care and respite-it nearly killed her with stress and I was worried she’d have a heart attack and I’d find him starved to death in the house (not quite but you can see what I mean). It’s a very cruel disease and I am worried I will get it.
