Grief counselling

So I’m really really struggling.
I have a lot in my life to the point where my cup is full, even before you consider the dementia.
my mum has had a dementia diagnosis (alzheimers and vascular) for 18mths now and is deteriorating. She lives in assisted living so gets her cleaning/laundry/main meal cooked but I do everything else. She’s got limited mobility too.
im starting to wonder if I need grief counselling to help accept the whole situation. Is it something that people do?

Yes this would definitely be a type of counselling. You could probably request it through your GP or if you don't want to wait go private?

Yes, grief counselling is very helpful if you find a counsellor with whom you ‘click’. I’m currently seeing one twice a week and it really helps to be able to see that your emotions are valid, normal and can be worked through. They help me out things in perspective and it’s a safe space to say whatever I need to voice that I can’t say elsewhere. Different therapists do offer different approaches, so it’s worth doing some research and asking questions before agreeing to therapy.

I'm so sorry @Brendabigbaps. I'll ask for it to be removed. I don't quite know how I managed that one Flowers

You can contact Cruse and ask about prebereavement counselling. I did this soon after mum's dementia diagnosis and it helped enormously.
