Care homes for young onset Alzheimer’s

Does anyone have a recommendation for a really nice care home for someone with young (late 50s) onset Alzheimer’s ? I have PoA for a friend with no close relatives who can help and their current patchwork of care from neighbours and paid carers 3+ times a day is no longer enough.

They own their own house so self funding should not be an issue. Areas they have links to or local friends include Kent / South East London, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire , Bristol and the West Country.

That's not an easy one
Maybe start by talking to adult social care in each area, contact admiral nurses and see if they have any suggestions?

No recommendations but just wanted to offer a handhold. You are doing something wonderful for your DD by sorting this out for them.

Sorry meant DF. How are you getting on @notquiteruralbliss?

It’s worth asking the care homes what the age range is. My Mum is only 66, the home I found had a wide age range from early 50’s to 100’s. The vast majority of residents are older, however having the younger residents means they are less isolated and the staff seem more adaptable to dealing with different characters. In my experience when looking the care homes that look like top end hotels tend to be average age 80+.

So sorry about your DM @SinisterBumFacedCat. That's such a young age to lose her to Dementia Flowers

@CadyEastman you were spot on re the upmarket hotel like ones catering for older people. Took DF to see one and it was a definite no. We’ve now found one (via a neighbour of DF who scouted local care homes that appeared to have good dementia care) that DF visited and really liked.
