Cleaning older people's wee - any suggestions?

Not specifically dementia or altzheimers but I couldn't find a more relevant board on mumsnet.

I've started cleaning my parents house once a week, as they are starting to struggle to do it properly themselves. They have several mobility aids around the place, including a raised loo seat thingy that's like this. It comes off it's frame to clean, but I've noticed a build up of what I think is calcium type stuff from wee, underneath. I can vaguely remember having a conversation with cleaners in a pub frequented by older men, who thought that old men's wee had more calcium in it than average, and that it always caused her more problems trying to remove it from the urinals than it ever did in younger-men's establishments.

Back to my parents' loo - normal bathroom cleaner hasn't removed it, and as the seat is a plastic I'm reluctant to get anything particularly abrasive on it. Any suggestions for what I could try to get it removed? The seat thingy is only around a year old and is otherwise fine, so I don't want to have to replace it if possible, as they're pricey.

There is a pet cleaner that dissolves urine. Have quick Google or someone will come on and tell you the name I'm sure. It breaks down urine so it doesn't smell.

No idea on the wee but there's a section called Elderly Parents under "other subjects". It's a bit busier than the Dementia board Wink
