Scotland - Can someone please help me understand Care Home Funding?

The Social Worker is not the best and we believe we are being pushed into making decisions that may not be best for parent but will require less funding from Local Authority with regards to Care Homes.

Is the maximum Funding ~£832 per week (assuming qualifies for nursing element)? Do patients with advanced Alzheimers typically get the nursing element of Care?

Is state and private pensions included in that £832 or can that be used to top up weekly fees? So a place of perhaps £1100 / £1200 per week may be in reach?

House won't be sold as other living parent and there may be a very small top up to be made to fees but pretty negligible. Sibling and i prepared to assist other parent in meeting fees if required and there are some savings that can be used due to the 50 / 50 split for a couple.

If a place needs 3 years proof of ability to pay, does the la funding plus pensions form part of that proof? So we don't actually need to show we can afford funny amounts for the next 3 years?

Just trying to work it all out as its all happening very quickly due to sudden deterioration and we need to make sure we make the best decisions for him.

Thanks in advance. I am also trying to look on line but just all a bit overwhelming at the moment.

Just bumping for you @Carehomeadvice. If you don't get any replies it might be worth asking in the Elderly Parents section as it's busier than this one.

I've just had some advice from someone and they said that although attendance allowance stops and state pension is used, along with the nursing allowance. Private/occupational pension they can only take half of. Therefore you can choose to put the other half in if you want. Don't know if that helps but good luck
