Support Worker

My parent is in the early stages of Alzhiemer's. I have found out from her carer that a support worker has been in touch to arrange a visit to assess my paren't needs.

I am furious that I haven't been involved in this. I had already contacted social services to see what my parent could get and as she is able bodied and has savings over the £23k threshold she is not entitled to anything.

The GP and memory nurse think my mother need additional carers in the evenings to help with meals.

Unfortunately I don't have deputyship yet and I don't know if she can afford it as it would be a lot more money. The memory nurse was supposed to ring the carer so that the nurse could perhaps ways to remind my parent to cook more nutritious meals but she hasn't been in touch.

I find my parent's GP is misinformed about things. I am going to ring the surgery next week to find out more.

Has anyone had any experience of a support worker?
