So my granda (granfer) passed away on the 13th. He was a bag of bones after being in a home in Northern Ireland and we as a family believe care was not what it should have been. My mum has put an official complaint to the home about his weight and health, he had soiled himself a week before hospital and they had put the trousers back on him, my mum had noticed as it was the day they take him to hers for fish and chips etc and my mum noticed the trousers when helping him at the toilet. The home have not responded to the complaints until stage two where we were emailed the late reply was due to covid outbreak which only happened a few days before his death. Can we escalate this further?

So sorry for your loss @tinatsarina Thanks

I'm a bit confused about the trousers thing (it's a bit early for me!).

Are you saying that he was caked in old poo or was he wearing trousers with poo on them?

I don't know what the procedure would be in Ni but hopefully someone will be along soon who can help Thanks

Just had a Google, is this of any help?

I can’t help with how to persue your concerns, but I just want to say I am sorry to hear about your granda. My dad died with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. His health degenerated for over a decade, and he spent his last 4 years in care. The “bag of bones” description is so true, but that is a lot to do with the effects Parkinson’s. It’s a horrible way to end your life OP, I hope you find some resolution x
