Wondering if it would be helpful to share experiences?

Not a parent exactly , but my MIL .
I’d be happy to share experiences.

Thanks for responding @Mrsstevenpatrickmorrissey01 & @QueenietheCutie

DD was diagnosed a while ago & DM has been looking after him very well.

He has started to go down hill a bit these last few months which has been really hard as I have been petrified to go round there because of covid. Thank goodness they have now had their vaccinations!

Trying to reassure DM that I will be there and help as much as possible but she's really stressed out.

Parkinsons symptoms hadn't been overly obvious until now. I don't feel like I know enough about what is going to happen. Can you recommend any good sources of help / info?

I'm quite scared about what the future holds to be honest.

Lockdown really hasn't helped my Dad, he manages to get out for a walk (or slow shuffle as he calls it) most days but he misses interaction with the family. And the thing I find saddest of all is that he suffers with terrible anxiety about everything - he used to be so full of life and positive but the illness has made him almost obsessively anxious, Covid and lockdown really don't help with that either of course. He's late 70s but still hasn't had his vaccine which I am disappointed in as there are younger and healthier people in my own family who have had theirs already.
Sorry that's not very positive is it!

Parkinsons UK have been my go-to source of information.

My dad had it several years ago. Now died, but not of Parkinsons as not sure a person can actually die of it.
Not sure how much help I can be but willing to talk if you want to.

In some ways I think he got off lightly, as he died before he was unable to feed himself.
It was his walking that was very very slow.

@Smiledwiththerisingsun no experience with Parkinson's but checking in to help if you ever need it on care and support for your Mum and Dad. I've sadly seen the system inside out over the past couple of years (dementia, rather than Parkinson's).

Also sending Thanks because it is really really shitty. Especially in Covid times when you can't always be there as you'd like x
