Parkinson's with dementia - rivastigmine?

Hi all. Sadly but not really surprisingly, my dad has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's dementia. Until recently my lovely mum has shielded us from the full extent of his memory/cognitive problems so I'm very patchy on the exact medical details at the moment. He's confused and forgetful but still has lucid moments especially when talking about things that just require general knowledge (DIY for example). Generally very frail but still able to shamble about slowly at the moment.

He's suspicious of and extremely resistant to taking any medication. Rivastigmine patches have been suggested at their latest consultant appointment, he doesn't want to try them - any experience with these? Or good resources to access for more info? My mum has asked me to look into them for her but I don't really know where to start.

Oh it's so sad.
