Hi , my mum developed full blown vascular dementia after a knee op , we sadly had to place her in a nursing home she’s so confused & bed bound
I’m so paranoid that I’m going to develop this awful disease , I’ve convinced myself that I’m getting forgetful , forgetting words etc , I do try and think rationally but it’s so difficult

You poor thing. It's horrible losing your mum as a person but also having her still alive and struggling.

I thought I was getting ill in the same way last year. To the point that I thought I would get income insurance and then go and see my doctor about it. In fact, I was hugely stressed to the point that my mind would regularly go blank and words would absolutely disappear (not even on the tip of my tongue). It's a lot better now - my dh has died Sad but I'm less stressed than when he was ill in his final year.

I'm not a doctor, but I think if you are worrying about your health, make an appointment with your GP. Nothing is more reassuring than a good GP's appointment. You might need to talk to someone about everything you are dealing with. Flowers

I’m so paranoid that I’m going to develop this awful disease , I’ve convinced myself that I’m getting forgetful , forgetting words etc Getting forgetful is a normal part of ageing and can also be caused by other things. Mine has improved immensely since I started taking a daily vitamin+minerals tablet.

this link gives signs of Alzheimers and compares them with normal age related changes. It may or may not be reassuring.

That's a very useful link, thank you.

One tho g to consider is Vit D. If your levels are low, I believe it can affect memory and concentration.
